Default merchant supply/demand bologna

The merchants supply and demand by my observations isn't controlled by supply and demand but rather by a person or persons. I have never seen a lieutenants insignia at the rune trader but I do see them selling for around 10k. If the law of supply and demand applies to the traders, like the traders themselves say, these insignias would be worth much more than 25g which the trader pays for them. Lieutenants insignias aren't the only off prices I've noticed. I noticed other items they sell like radiant inginias that have been unavailable at times and yet at that time were only around 400g. I could really care less what iI have to pay or get for these items. I'm just calling them out as baloneeeee hehe

Am I missing something somewhere? If so please inform me.

The problem is that the traders start of with the lowest possible price and 0 in stock. So people need to sell to the trader, so that others can buy from the trader, so that the price can rise. Until the price has risen to a reasonable level, the traders will not have them in stock.

However there are a lot of people with large amounts of gold who want some items (such as the lieutenants insignia). They will buy it at any price, so until they all have as many of them as they want, they will keep buying out the traders. It doesn't help that all heroes now use runes/insignias, but their drop rate still appears to be about the same as it was before Nightfall, meaning that instead of just wanting it for one character, they want it for the heroes on all their characters.

So unless ANET makes the heroes not use runes/insignias or drastically ups their drop rate, don't expect to see them in stock for a while.

The problem with the Lieutenant's Insignia is that the trader has been bugged for months and does not display the insignia for sale. Hence he bought a big stockpile of them but never sells any, because of the bug, and people have to sell them on the secondary market.

If they ever get around to fixing that bug, the price will stabilize and roughly correlate with current prices, just like all the other traders do.

Peace,
-CxE

And besides those issues... insignias on the rune trade is silly anyway. Not only because they aren't runes, but if you want a bloodstained boot for your necro or hero necro and you only have nightfall, and not 9k to spare for this bit, you won't be getting it anytime soon.

There always seems to be a double edged sword with some changes, you get dye preview (great!) but dye effects are fettled with and you can't get the old dye combinations anymore. Much like you get insignias to change armor after you buy it, but you need to cough up extra for popular armor insignias just to optimize your armor off of its base armor.

Oh well... It doesn't effect me anyway, why should I care?

One of my guildies says he uses one set of hero runes/insignias across his account, salvaging the runes from, for example, one Olias and putting on another Olias.

Well, that would work. Except that would mean a few minutes work whenever you go to change which character your using. And since they don't stack, he will either need a lot of character switching, or have an empty Xunlai vault.

So how many time a day does he use a salvage kit to do this ?

Sometimes often, sometimes not at all. If he finds a rune he'll apply it to another hero, so that cuts down on time too. It beats paying ridiculous amounts for a rune I guess. I just don't give my heros runes unless I find them. And yeah, the vaults are empty due to mules.

I do that too, using one rune for every Olias for example, but for 6+ characters it's getting tiresome really fast when you want to play with another one.

I see no reason to not share weapons/runes when most of your characters already have that hero at lvl 20...

Wow. I could see how that might work depending on how often you use your different characters and how many heroes you have unlocked.

But that can get expensive. I ended up deleting one of my characters and nearly used ~70% of a superior salvage kit salvaging insignias/runes from heroes. That's $1.4k (if purchased from trader), which isn't exactly a cheap option, especially if you jump between characters quite often.

Also, as another poster pointed out, storage space can be a problem.

If it works for you guildie though, more power to him. It's something that I might consider doing if I was low on money and was only sharing a few runes/insignias between my different characters' hereos.

I too salvage and trade rune/insignias around. Though I slowly collect up ones I need (through finding them or purchasing them) and the "mains" keep theirs. There are really only a few that are expensive enough to bother (sup fire, major vigors, minion master runes). That way I can still play without switching too much and it doesn't take *that* much gold. I do the same with weapons.

Though I actually have enough plat to pretty much get all my heroes with runes (major vigors, not sup) I try and have basic needs be self sufficient (then again, that's why I have enough plat - I do not farm any high end areas). Storage is for "big" purchases - ascended armors, rare skins on weapons, mini-pets, that sort of thing. I also have fairly hard limits I will not go below, after Factions I make sure I have enough before the next chapter is released to fund two new characters (runes and armor), and now some new heroes.

I'm pretty sure expert salvaging runes and transferring them between heros will shortly add up to be more expensive than just purchasing a new rune...

a large seasoned sausage made of finely ground meat, usually beef and pork, that has been cooked and smoked.

it's thought by most to be a sub-standard meat product.

if I were to make a meat helmet, I would make it out of Ham, not Bologna
